BioForward is an innovative start-up based in Madrid, dedicated to making sea water drinkable through a sustainable desalination process.
As part of the company’s growth, I had the opportunity to create a fresh visual identity that better represents its mission and innovative technology. The goal was to develop a brand that reflects both the scientific innovation and the environmental responsibility behind the desalination process.
To align with BioForward’s mission, I focused on creating a brand that embodies the purity and sustainability of the ocean while highlighting the technical process of transforming sea water into drinkable water.
The color palette centers around light shades of blue, inspired by the sea, representing both the water source and the clarity of the end product. The blue tones convey trust, innovation, and environmental consciousness, values central to BioForward’s mission.
The logo visualizes the four-step desalination process through four bars in different waves. These bars represent the stages of desalination in a clear, simplified way. Each wave in the logo corresponds to one of the steps involved in the process, illustrating how sea water goes from salty and undrinkable to pure and fresh. The waves, combined with the bars, also symbolize both the natural element of water and the technological refinement that BioForward brings to the process.
The overall design focuses on clean lines, simplicity, and balance, mirroring the clarity and purity of the water that BioForward helps create.
Visual identity
The simplified but impactful logo has also made BioForward’s message about clean water and sustainability more memorable and recognizable.
Storytelling
The branding has helped the company stand out in the competitive clean-tech industry, establishing credibility and trust with both customers and partners.
The outcome
The new visual identity, with its light blue palette and wave-inspired logo, helps BioForward tell its brand story and connect with an audience that values both innovation and sustainability.
